Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare Mill.) Is a Mediterranean herbaceous plant of the Apiaceae family (Umbelliferae).
Known since ancient times for its aromatic properties, its horticultural cultivation seems to date back to 1500.
Fennel seeds have a high fiber and potassium content. They help digestion (if they can chew their seeds after meals), they have digestive and anti-swelling properties, they counter the abdominal pains. The infusion of fennel seeds is suggested as a meal for dieters, as an excellent diuretic and fat-burning, and to counteract colic in children. Its infusion can also be buffered on the skin, to relieve slight inflammation. Fennel seeds can be used whole or finely chopped on salads and vegetables cooked in butter, added as an aroma in fish broths, on meat and in sauces. They are excellent for flavoring desserts, bread and baked goods and are the basic flavor of many herbal liqueurs and bitters. Natural chewed scent breath.
